FIERCE FIGHTING
BANDITS IN MANCHURIA JAPANESE TROOPS ATTACKED (United Press Association.) (By "Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SHANGHAI, January 13. (Received Jan. 13, at 9 p.m.) A desperate action took place near Hsinlintun, where several thousand bandits attacked the Japanese troops. Four Japanese officers and 30 soldiers were killed and the remainder were wounded. Many parts of the city are burning. INCIDENT AT TSINGTAO. A SERIOUS CLASH. SHANGHAI, January 13. (Received Jan. 13, at 9 p.m.) A serious clash occurred with Chinese military forces when over 100 Japanese civilians invaded the official newspaper, the Minkuojipao, at Tsingtao, and attacked the staff with knives and clubs. They also wrecked the machinery and set fire to the premises as a result of the publication of an editorial deploring the fact that the recent attempt to assassinate the Japanese Emperor was unsuccessful. Several Chinese were wounded.
