APPOINTMENTS TO TEACHING STAFF Miss Jessie Comriej M.Sc., has been appointed mathematics mistress at Columba Presbyterian Girls’ College, Dunedin. Miss Comrie, who is a daughter of the Rev. W. J. Comrie, formerly treasurer of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, is a graduate with honours in mathematics of Victoria College, Wellington. She was trained as a teacher in the Auckland training centre under Mr Duncan Rae, and is at present in the service of the Auckland Education Board. Miss Madge Lane, M.A., has been appointed to teach English and take charge of school games. Miss Lane, who belongs to a well-known Ashburton family, is a graduate _ of Canterbury College, with honours in English and French, and has also a distinguished record in various forms of sport. Miss Spanwell, who has for some months held a position as a temporary teacher in Coiumba College, has received an appointment as teacher of general subjects. Miss Spanwell, since coming to New Zealand from Cambridge, where she was head mistress of a private school for girls, has gained experience of New Zealand educational requirements as an assistant in St. Hilda’s College, Dunedin, and head mistress of a girls’ college in Invercargill.
