ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
GIRL CUMBER INJURED . (Special to Daily Times.) MAKAROBA, January 7. A school teacher, Mies Janet Barclay, from Invercargill, received severe injuries as the result of a fall of several hundred feet whilst climbing in company with another teacher on the M'Kerrow ranges yesterday. A party of willing helpers set out at 11 p.m. but the scene of the accident was not reached until 4.30 a.m. Considerable difficulty was experienced in getting the injured girl back to Makarora, which was accomplished by 11 a.m, to-day. Dr Elmslie awaited the party’s arrival. Miss Bar. clay’s companion, who sought help, collapsed upon arrival at Makarora. The injuries are not believed to be serious. WOMAN’S SUDDEN DEATH Margaret Simpson, a widow, aged 70 years, who resided at Green Island, died suddenly at her home yesterday morning. The doctor, who had been attending her certified that death was due to natural causes, and an inquest was therefore not necessary.
