CHARGE OF “RECEIVING” MAN SENT TO PRISON. (Pek United Press Association.) BLENHEIM, January 7. A sentence of six months’ imprisonment with hard labour awaited Francis Thomas Kennedy, aged 39 years, of Blenheim, a carpenter, when he appeared before justices of the peace in the. Police Court this morning on three charges. In the first instance, he was alleged to have committed the theft on November 7 of a quantity of clothing from the Farmers’ Coop. at Blenheim of a total value of £l6 10s 4d, He was further charged with receiving the goods mentioned in the first charge well knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. The third charge alleged that on October 6, at Port Nelson, in incurring a debt to Hans Mathias Andersen of £5 ss, he obtained credit by fraud. Kennedy pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft, but admitted the charge of “ receiving.” Sergeant Petersen, who conducted the prosecution, asked that the theft charge should be withdrawn, and the application was granted. On the second count the accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. On the charge of obtaining credit by fraud he was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment, to be concurrent with the previous sentence, ,
