GUNDERSEN BEATS ERSKINE (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, January 7. In the chess congress final Gundersen (Victoria) beat Erskine. The game was notable for the rapid moves by the winner, who occupied only 40 minutes for 40 moves, as against 120 minutes by the loser for 37. The match was awarded on time, but Erskine’s position was hopeless.
