MANIOTOTO HOSPITAL BOARD
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Maniototo Hospital Board was hold in Ranfurly on August 4, and was attended by Messrs H. W. Davis (chairman), Dowling, and Lowis. Dr Eudey was also in attendance. A circular was received from the Hospital Boards’ Association stating that a Bill which contained a power for hospital boards to adjust the pension schemes under the National Provident Fund Act had passed the first reading. The Bill also gave employees power to elect whether they should continue to contribute to the fund at the old rate or at the reduced rate. —Received. The Minister of Health, wrote stating that he was unable to grant the board total exemption from the regulations for the purpose of the appointment of permanent secretary, but stated that the board should call for applications for the position in one Dunedin paper and also in a local paper.—lt was resolved that applications should be advertised for at once.
The doctor reported that there were two males and six females in the hospital at the date of the last return, and four and five had since been admitted, making 17 treated. Three and nine, respectively had since been admitted, leaving five under treatment. Three babies were j born in the hospital during thj? month.
It was resolved to call for tenders for the supply of coal to the hospital for a period of 12 months.
Accounts and salaries amounting to £3BO 12s 9d were passed for payment.
