REGULAR “WEEK-ENDS OFF” LATEST GLASGOW FASHION. Week-ends off for wives are the latest fashion in modern domestic relationships in Glasgow. Inquiries made recently revealed its popularity among the women. One wife stated in quite a matter-of-fact tone that she had enjoyed a “ week-end off” every month since her marriage about a year ago. “We made a bargain before we married,” she explained. “ I spend my week-ends off with girl friends out of town, as I used to do. My husband goes golfing, as he also used to do. We are both satisfied it is a good arrangement and we are by no means the only married couple rvho practice it.” A West End woman, well known in welfare circles, shook her head sadly when she was asked about week-ends for wives in the city’s upper circle. “My week-ends are the busiest period of my household week,” she said. “Everybody is at home, friends are dropping in, and I have my hands full.” It was learned, however, that many wives who are keen labour workers and speakers have the week-end off regularly to enable them to follow their bent more thoroughly. “ Hiking is responsible for other young wives having their-week-ends off,” according to another who knows all about the movement. “ Not every husband is keen on rambling, but many a wife, tied up in side four walls all week, is enthusiastic about it.*
