HARRIER ROAD RACE
TEMUKA-TIMARU EVENT WON BY J. G. BARNES. J. G. ’ Barnes, of the Civil Service Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club (Dunedin), increased his long list of successes on Saturday when he won the TemukaTimaru Road Race, also securing the fastest time. The race extends over a course of 12 miles, and the distance was covered by Barnes in GOmin 53Jsec, being Imin 44 l-10sec slower than his record of 59min 9 2-ssec established last year. Barnes and Ward, of Dunedin, and Park, the Canterbury champion, took charge not long after the start and held the lead all the way, finishing in the following order: — J. G. Barnes I. G. Ward .. .. 2 A. D. Park 3 W. G. Taylor .. .. .. .. 4 W. Masters . • 5 J. G. Barnes, fastest time, GOmin 53Jsec. The 1930 race resulted: J. G. Barnes (Dunedin), 59min 9 2-ssec, 1; S. A, Anderson (Dunedin), GOmin 30scc, 2; J. Eaton (Timaru), GOmin 45sec, 3; E. L. Brown (Dunedin), GOmin 58sec, 4; J. W. Pascoe (Christchurch), C2min 9 4-ssec, 5; L. B.
