(Per United Press Association.) TE AROHA, January 26. Godfrey Frederick William Guy Harfield, on a charge of issuing a valueless cheque for £6 JOs and stealing a suitcase with its contents from a car at Te Aroha, was convicted by justices to-day and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each charge, concurrent. On four other charges of theft he was convicted and placed on probation for two years, and also ordered to make restitution. PALMERSTON N., January 20. The North Island conference of Seventh Day Adventists, which has been held during the past week at Palmerston North, and during which addresses were delivered dealing with the principles of faith, concluded last night. The annual appeal for foreign missions resulted in £Bl7 being subscribed in a few minutes.
