A plan to expend £11,000,000 on fortifying 110 miles of the Belgian frontier was revealed when Count de Broqueville (War Minister) asked the Chamber to grant the military credits. The plan includes new fortifications equipped with guns haying a range of 14 miles at Liege, Namur, and Antwerp, linked by a line of dugouts. The Minister added, that no foreign Power had objected to the proposals.
