For the past nine years (states our Auckland correspondent) he has filled the position of deputy marshal in the federal marshals office, Los Angeles. Mr H. H. Scott, Kmgston-on-Tliamcs, Surrey, and formerly of Diiriedin, who has been touring New Zealand, travelled north by the second express,on Tuesday last with the intention of visiting Rotorua, Waitomo, and the Bay of Islands, where he intends to try his hand at sword fishing before sailing from Auckland by the Aorangi on February 4. While in Dunedin Mr Scott was the guest of Mr and Mrs J. B. Hislop, Opoho, where on Monday evening last he entertained a number of friends with a most interesting and instructive collection of motion pictures. These pictures, taken in all countries of the world, were filmed by Mr Scott during his business tours. He has made a hobby of motion picture taking, and during a recent visit to the Muford track he exposed, several films of what he described as the finest scenery in the world. ' , Captain A. E. Lettington, of the Federal Line steamer Surrey, which arrived at Dunedin yesterday looming from Glasgow and Liverpool, by way of north New Zealand ports, is making his first voyage to the Dominion as master. He last visited New Zealand as chief officer of the New Zealand Shipping Company s motor liner Rangitane, and, after shore leave at Home, was appointed to the command of the Surrey. In 1915, Captain Lettington, then a very young man, was serving as an apprentice on a sailing ship. He left the sea to join the British Army, subsequently transferring to the Air Force, and was promoted to the rank of flight-lieutenant. He saw much service in France, and later went to Russia. He was mentioned in despatches for bravery in France and in Russia, and was awarded the D.F.C. and the Order of St. Anne.
