THE SHARE MARKET. i DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. No business was recorded on the Dunedin Stock Exchange yesterday. New Zealand Breweries shares, which had already eased to what appeared to be bedrock, fell still further, the best offer being Sis 9d. Sellers were quoting 335. Preferred Commercial Banks were asked for at £5 ss, but no seller came into the market. For the first time this year, there was a buyer for National Insurances forward, the quotation being 13s. Pollard, £4 ss. Bran, £3 10s. Oats, Is 6d. HIKURANGI COAL COMPANY. UNFAVOURABLE REPORT, (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, January 22. In :their thirty-seventh annual report the directors of the Hikurangi Coal Company state.that they regret that they have ■gain to present.an unfavourable balance ■beet. When the mine was de-watered in January last, the coal output was resumed, and was continued until the end ®f' July, when a further inrush of water once more caused an entire cessation of work. A powerful nump was obtained from the Government, and the workings ■re now almost free of water. It is expected that coal will be again forthcoming about the end of January. To finance the heavy cost incurred in dewatering the mine, deepening No. 1 shaft, •nd providing larger water lodgement (in case of emergency) a loan from the Government has been arranged. _ The net loss |or the year was £4262, which brings the accumulated losses to £22,459. The chief items in the balance sheet are:— Liabilities: Paid capital, £70,000; debentures, £30,0'00; outside debentures, £l4 979. LONDON WOOL SALES. (United Press Association.) ißy Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON. January 21. At the wool sales 8447 bales were offered, including 1283 from New Zealand. About 5000 bales were sold. There was a splendid selection of greasy merinos, a small supply of scoured merinos and all New Zealand sorts. The opening prices were confirmed. There were large withdrawals owing to owners refusing to meet the market. New Zealand greasy crossbred, “ Ranui,” s|d and s|d, SYDNEY STOCK EXCHANGE.
