BURNS ANNIVERSARY.
To all Scotsmen, the approaching anniversary of the birth of Scotland's poet, Robert Bums, is a date to honour. Burns, in a short but fruitful Jjfet roe, left to the world works which, for their pathos, tenderness, arid fire, have never been surpassed. His independent spirit is shown in " A Man’s a Man,” where bp ennobles honest poverty, and his love songs will, ever charm. The Dunedin Burns Club has arranged for Hjg Majesty's Theatre to-jnor.rpw evening a programme of outstanding merit. The Rev,. W Allan Stevely will deliver the address on Some Aspects of the Poetry pf Burns,” Mrs Wilfred Andrews, Miss Dorothy Sligo, Messrs Arthur Macdonald, Alfred Walmsley, Sydney Taylor, S. G. Angell, the Idlers’ Quartet Party, together with an instrumental trio, the Pipe Band reel party, and the Burns Choir, will complete the bill. The box plan arrangements are advertised.
