TROTTING.
By Sentinel. Acceptances for the first day of the Forbury Park meeting are due to-day. Fi'ee Advice is one of the favourites for the Dunedin Cup, but there are indications that Dundas Boy is expected to improve on his showing at Wellington. The time record for the Dunedin Oup is held by Logan Chief, who stepped 429 1-5 to win the 1925 contest. Roi L’Or won last year in 4.32 4-5. Kollo has a smart turn of speed but is a bad horse at the barrier. Prairie King should race prominently in the two trotting events at the Waino Jockey Club’s meeting to-morrow. Probationer, who is engaged at the Tapanui meeting, is trained in the district by Mr J. R. Waite, and has been shaping well. She is a likely-looking four-year-old by Wrack from Our Nurse, a mare who showed useful form on southern tracks several seasons ago. Dundas Boy was well backed for the Gold Cup at Wellington last week, being fourth favourite, but he was never dangerous. As usual, he made a somewhat slow beginning, and looked as though he could not get up enough speed to go to the leading division. The track may not have suited the long-striding pacer. The successful Belfast trotting trainer, C S Donald, was a buyer at the Trentham yearling sales, three youngsters being knocked down to his bid. . Good Lady, who is trained in the Wairarapa district, has a good deal of speed, and in the Improvers’ Handicap at Wellington, was pacing well in the early stages, but made a bad break in the back stretch and settled her chance. When she goes solidly in a race she should soon be successful. _ . t)n The South Canterbury pacer, Roi I (Jr, started in the Gold Cup at Wellington last week, but he hardly looked ready to go two miles. He was driven by D. Withers, who has previously been associated with the Rey de Oro pacer, and made a good beginning. The race should do Roi I’Or a lot of good and he may race in improved form later in the season. . The three-year-old Crimson Rey was made a little better favourite than Nimbus in the Probationers’ Handicap at Wellington last week. He went away smartly and was well placed throughout the race, but turning into the straight he commenced to stop, and eventually finished up in fifth place. Crimson Rey. who is by Rey de Oro from Crimson Rose, is trained by M. B. Edwards at Yaldhurst, and, despite his failure, is likely to develop into a high-class pacer, as he has a very easy action and should stay with age,
