Bx PIIILLIDA. PERSONAL AND' SOCIAL At Balclutha Presbyterian Church on the evening of December 22. Miss Jean Noble was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr Thomas Wilson. Both were popular figures in the town, and the wedding aroused much interest as evidenced by the large number of spectators at the church. The Rev. Roy Alley was the officiating minister, and Miss Matheson presided at the .organ. Mr Noble escorted his daughter, whose charming gown was fashioned of ivory georgette. The bodice was cut to a point back and front from which a fully-flared skirt flovyed to the ankles. A dainty picotedged cape hung from the shoulders. On the front of the skirt was appliqued a spray of roses in shadow lace. Her beautiful hand-embroidered silk not veil was arranged Juliet style, and she carried a beautiful Victorian posy of cream roses, pink carnations, and maidenhair fern, from which hung satin streamers of pink and white. She was attended by three bridesmaids—Misses _E. Noble (sister of the bride), M. Wilson (sister of the bridegroom), and H. Wallace. Miss Noble was attii'ed In lime gxeen, georgette, while Misses Wilson and Wallace wore shell pink georgette. The bodices were slightly pouched with little shoulder capes at the hack; the full-flared skirts were ankle length and were appliqued in velvet flowers of pastel shades. To tone with their frocks they all wore large summer felt hats turned off the face and finished with small velvet flowers. They all carried Victorian posies of lavender* pansies,; pale pink geraniums, roses and maidenhair fern. Coloured satin ribbons in pale shades of pink, lavender, and green hung from the posies. Mr A. M. Miller was best man and Messrs B. Noble and W. Wilson were groomsmen, while Messrs W;- Noble and A. Wallace acted as ushers. While xthe register was being signed Mr-D. Kaye sang very acceptably the solo, “The Crown,” As the bridal party left the church the local tennis club.members formed an arcb with tennis racquets, while little Margaret Stevenson and-'Beryl Sinclair, attired in green and gold organdi frocks (the tennis club colours) and carrying baskets of green and gold scattered confetti of, the same shades along the path to the gate. A reception was held at the Dalton Hall, >vhere Mr and Mrs Noble; assisted by Mr and Mrs Wilson, received the guests; Mrs Noble wearing: a smart black French crepe de chine frock relieved with beige and,coatee to match, and a black Baku straw hatartd sable fox fur, while Mrs Wilson was attired in a smairt navy georgette, frock, a navy coat relieved with white and a'becoming navy Bankok straw hat. Later in the evening the happy couple left by* car, the bride wearing a beige and • brown georgette frock, smart brown felt ! hat with shoes and stockings en suite; and a* handsome musquash fur coat, the gift of the bridegroom.
