(Received Dec. 18, at 1.35 a.m.) Twelve seaplanes have left for Cartagena ori the first stage of the transatlantic flight. The machines wili 1 fly in groups of thi;ee, thus forming four squadrons, each being distinguished by coloured markings. General Balbo will be in the leading machine, with the chief of staff, Vallo, and the famous Italian ace, Maddalena. The actual route is Carthagena, thence to Spanish Morocco and Bolama (Portuguese Guinea), from where they are scheduled to start across the Atlantic on January 5. Seven fast scout ships will he posted on the route in case there is a forced descent.
