STEAMER ON A REEF.
REPORTED TO BE SINKING. iPek United Pbebs Association.} WELLINGTON, December 2. The secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received the following radio message:—“From 6.30 a.m. to 6.50 a.m. the following was beard on short staves:—‘ 5.0.5., D.E.S.S. Hedwig on Praia’s Reef.’ ” Prata’s Reef is off Hongkong. The Auckland police are informed that an S.O.S. was received at Thames this morning from a ship named Hedwig, stating that she was sinking fast some considerable distance off the New Zealand coast.
