SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
.The Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club, will open the season for, senior swimming by staging its annual carnival to-morrow night at the Tepid Baths. Owing to the, large number of entries it has been decided to commence at 7.30 p.m. Following qn the wonderful enthusiasm shown by the school children and parents at r.he school carnival last week, the Primary Schools’ Relay has brought forward good entries, and an exciting finish should bo witnessed. A novel event will be the much discussed family relay race in which teams of three members of the same family will take part. A large number of families, has entered for this event, which will decide the champion swimming family of Dunedin. Included in the programme are handicaps* for men, women, and juniors, interclub relay, life-saving, diving (plain and fancy), and a novelty in the form of a seahorse race. Under the direction of Mr Roy Calder (British Empire Games representative) the Dunedin Club’s diving troupe, headed by Mr H. E. Walker, will give one of its inimitable diving exhibitions, which arc always popular with followers of the sport. The Dunedin Club will try conclusions with the St. Clair Life-saving Club in the first, polo match of the Donald Stuart Banner competition.
