Oustric, founder of the Oustric Bank, has been arrested and charged with frauds exceeding £10,000,090 by manipulating Bourse prices by means of a newspaper called the Bourse et Finance, which published fictitious quotations.’ : Following M. Oustric’s arrest, M. Faleoz and M, Lautier, members of M; Tardieu’s Government, resigned, as they had relations with the Oustric Bank and wished to be free to explain their connection with the bank to a commission of inquiry which has just been appointed. M. Tardieu then asked the House for a vote of confidence, /ifter a passionate speech by the Prime Minister and a Stormy debate, in which the Opposition suggested that the Government bad seriously affected M. Oustric’s case, the vote of confidence was carried by 293 rotes to 279. The smallness of the majority caused a sensation in Paris.
