LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. MAN AND WIRE INJURED. (Peb United Press Association.) ■ HAMILTON, November 28. A severe level crossing accident occurred at Matamata to-day when a motor ear driven by Jonathan Rice (Onehunga). accompanied by his wife, collided with the Rotorua express. The smash occurred at the Broadway crossing near the town. Both were admitted to the Matamata Hospital suffering -from severe injuries, bruises, lacerations, and shock. Mrs Rice is in a serious condition. The car was wrecked. DIED OF INJURIES. (Per ' United Press Association.) TAPANUI, November 28. A. T. Breayley, guard of the train who was run over whilst shunting at'Tapanui on Wednesday afternoon, and had to have his leg amputated, died as a result of his injuries in the local hospital'at 2.30 this morning. The deceased, who resided at Edievale, was 65. years of age, and leaves a widow and four of a family.
