AWARDED TO MR F. B. KELLOGG. * (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) OSLO, Npvember 27. Mr P. B. Kellogg (America) has been, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 1929, valued at £9600. ■Mr Prank B. Kellogg, who is,an able lawyer with diplomatic gifts, was president of the American Bar Association in 1912, and was senator for Minnesota from 1917 to 1022. In 1923 lie was appointed • Ambassador to Great Britain, and he was Secretary of State for /

America from 1025 to 1929. His proposal of a' Peace Pact \roused much attention in 1928, and he werit to Paris for its signing in August of last year. The Pact consists of- three articles, which state: Article X.—The high contracting parties solemnly declare,- in the names of their respective peoples,’ that they condemn recourse to war for the solution of international controversies, and renounce it as an instrument of national policy in their relations with one another. Article ll.—The high contracting parties agree that the settlement or solution of all disputes or conflicts of whatever nature or of whatever,- origin they may be, which may arise among them, shall never be sought except by pacific means. Article lll.—The present treaty shall be ratified by the high contracting parties named in the preamble in accordance with their’respective constitutional requirements, and shall take effect as between them as soon as all their several instruments of ratification shall have been deposited. ‘ 1 The treaty is to remain open as long as may be necessary for adherence by all the other Powers of the world.
