AERO CLUB BUILDINGS.
AMERICAN TIMBERS SPECIFIED. STRONG PROTEST EVOKED. ' (Peb United Press Association^ M A ETON, November 28. A vigorous protest against the action of the Auckland Aero Club in calling tenders tor new buildings in which 66 per cent, of the timber required is specified as Oregon and -edwood was entered this afternoon by Mr J. A. Bush, of Marton. in a telegram to the chairman of the Sawmillers’ Timber Trading Company. Ltd, .Mr Bush, who is probably as conversant with the industry as anyone else in the Dominion, stressed the amount of unemployment among timber workers, and pointed out the unfair competition of American timber. The Aero Club, he alleged, was financed by an art union, and he considered it unfair that the public should have contributed to a scheme the promoters of which ignored the quality of New Zealand timber and by their action accentuated the unemployment problem. The Dominion timber industry, he added, was in a bad way, and he urged' the chairman of the board to intervene before tenders close to-day.
