DUNEDIN PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY.

The Dunedin Philharmonic Society’s final concert this year will be held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Tuesday, December 9. The programme will be opened with the stirring march “ On the Rialto,” composed by the society’s conductor. This will be followed by Massenet’s overture to the opera “ Le Cid,” which is very tuneful and is always a popular selection. This will be followed by Japanese dance, “ Ke-Sa-Ko,” by Chapuis, a very characteristic and descriptive composition, the first part of the programme concluding with the Prologo in Heaven from the opera “ Mefistofile,” by Boito. The second half will open with Beethoven’s beautiful “ Symphony in O minor/’ This will be followed by “Le Bois Sacre” from the tragic opera by Massenet, the flute solo in this item being played by. Mr Kendcrdino. This will be followed by “ Tout pres de vous ” Air do Ballet by Barbiroili, a very pleasing and tuneful selection, the programme concluding with the “Slavonic Rhapsody,” by Frccdniann. The vocalists will be Miss Vanda Duncan, who is well known to Dunedin audiences, and Signor Qiovanni Stella. The box plan arrangements arc advertised.
