The Dunedin Orchestral Society's find concert of-the forty-third season will taks place in His Majesty’s Theatre onThutsday, December 4. A feature of this cbm ‘ cert will be the playing of Mendelssohn* “Concerto In G minor.” Mrs Campbell will be the soloist, and-willbe accompanied by the full orchestra. The concerto lends itself to brilliant and tasteful playing. Other numbers include ths overtures “ William Tell ” (Rossini) and “Le Domino Noir,V a delightful work’by Moeart, “Bine Kleins -Nachtmnslk” ’for strings, a selection from Wagner’s opetA “Lohengrin," and grand march, “Mari* di Grand," arranged by Morelli. Xlt«g Winnie Collier will sing “ A Poet’s Life-'' (Elgar), Messrs John T. Leech and Mortley Peake will, contribute the beadG- > - ful duet “Still as the Night” (BoJnhT, and the Leech Lyric Chorister* will give the following bracketed numbers “ When Flow’ry Meadows,” (a madrigal by Palestrina), “ Echoes ” (part sohgsby ‘ Sullivan), and “Beguile Beguile” s(a barcarole by Edward German), Vfth Miss Valda M*Ourdy lb the solo part Tide concert will marts an epoch in the history of ths Dunedin Orchestral Society that It will be the last occasion 3m vhich Mr Jamea Combs will wield Bib baton at the society’s concerto, Mr Coombs has conducted the orchestra caiittnnously for the past 42 years, and wul leave kindly memories amongst old and young for. his unswerving devotion to the cause of music.
