SIR ADRIAN KNOX
RETIREMENT ANNOUNCED. BENEFITS UNDER A WILL. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) SYDNEY, March 31. (Received March 31, at 9 p.m.) Sir Adrian Knox, Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia,-has resigned,* and Sir Isaac Isaacs has been appointed to that post. Sir Adrian states that, having benefited very considerably under the will of an intimate friend who died recently, he had thus become involved in a business carried on in Australia, and the position thus created was incompatible with the retention by him of any judicial office. Sir Adrian was one of the most intimate friends of the late Mr John Brown, the mining magnate. Prior to becoming Chief Justice of the High Court, Sir Adriap was a prominent figure on the Australian turf, being for many years chairman of the Australian Jockey Club.
