WHIPPET RACING.

SUMMER MEETING • Fine weather was experienced tor- the Dunedin Whippet Racing Club’s meeting at Tahuna Park on Saturday. The attendance was not large, but all present sliowed the greatest interest in the various events. Dunedin, Christchurch, and Invercargill were represented in the races. The judges were Messrs P. Paape and A. J. Blackwood, the starter Mr J. Duncan, and Mr A. A. Paape was conspicuous in his work amongst the track stewards. The ..time-keeper was Mr F. J. Townsend, and Mr J. S. Douglas, marshal, supervised the proceedings and presented the summer cup and the prizes at the end. of the day’s sport. Amongst the visitors was Mrs F. E, Biltcliff, of Christchurch, secretary of the National Whippet Racing Association, who is an enthusiast in such matters. The following are the results:— HURDLE SWEEPSTAKE, 200yds, over four flights of hurdles. Winner 75 per cent, of the stake; second dog 25 per cent. First heat: Mali Jong (oyds) 1; Cinderella (18yds) 2. Rose Comedy (scr) also competed. , A very close finish, the jumping being. very clean. No time was taken. . Second heat; Dinah (11yds) 1; Jenny 21yds) 2. Also competed: General ■Nobile Bonnie.Mary (24yds), and Aim High (24yds) - Won by a length; about two lengths separating second and third dog. The heat was only won by •inches. Time, 12 l-ssec. Third heat: The Brewer (19yds) 1; Mary of Argyle (33yds) 2; Shirley (33yds) 3. The other dogs competing 'were: Rose.
