SALARY “CUTS” THE PARTY ATTITUDE.

TO THE EDITOR.

your leader this morning you avoid the discussion of cause and effect anent the division resulting from the Labour Party’s amendment. It was the desire of Mr Holland in moving the amendment to gain two objectives. He aesjred the. electors to know the attitude of the parties towards the underpaid section of the community. He aimed by raemg a class. discussion to throw together the United and Reform Parties. y e . succeeded in both directions. The division has cast seeds which will bring forth the fruits of victory for the Holland party. It must be obvious to the salaried worker that, like Reform before it, the United Government is the tied instru“eat °f the overpaid official. In face of the present coat of living higher wages and unemployed ipensions are urgently necessary. It is futile for the Government to pretend its inability to tnd the necessary funds. The high-paid omciala and the idle capitalist constitute thfi source from which ample funds may be drawn. The Government, in failing to draw upon the above sections for various requirements, has proven its inability to administer for the welfare of the majority; it has confessed itself a class too!. The high hopes entertained anent the United Party have wilted away. With the aid of the Reform Party it will survive the normal period to meet the elector? and share with Reform the fate which awaits those who set vested interests before communal welfare,—l am. etc., . R. M. St. Hilda, November 6.
