Showing the demand for land, Gis borne agents report that eight farms were sold during the last two mouths, and that there is still considerable inquiry. WELLINGTON, September 20. The Prime Minister (.Sir Joseph Ward) to-day promised the Taupo Road Board deputation, representing also the Domain Board, that he would make a vote next year to provide a thermal bath in the Taupo township from the waters of what is known as the old constabulary bath.

Christchurch the following was the result of the competition for the British raisers’ permanent challenge cup for daffodils raised in the British Isles and grown in New Zealand (18 varieties, of daffodils, three stems of each) :—H. J. Poole sen. 1, A. G. Bull 2. Mr Poole belongs to Lower Hutt. TIMARU, September 20, At the Magistrate’s Court, for having failed to furnish returns of income, - Horace Broadband, a builder, Timaru' was fined £3 on one charge and £2 on a second, and James Walter Hallidav hotelkeeper, of Waimatc, was fined £2.’
