Mr W. EV Alexander left on Saturday morning for a visit to Wellington. Mr .W. Taylor,, manager of Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co., was a passenger for the north on Saturday for a tour of the company’s branches. , Sir John .Roberts returned to Dunedin by thd' through express on Saturday. The Rev. A. Astor, the Jewish rabbi, has returned from Christchurch. He conducted the service at the Dunedin Synagogue on Saturday morning. The Bishop of Dunedin (Bishop Richards) has announced that he will be unable to make 1 the trip Home next year to attend the Lambeth Conference. The Rev. F. y. Fisher, vicar of Roxburgh, has accepted appointment to the c ore of St. Mary’s, Mornington, where he will replace the Rev, S. J. Cooper, who has resigned for the purpose of taking up in the Anglican .orphanages. A Press Association telegram from Wanganui announces the death of Mrs Palmer Jones, wife of the manager of the Wanganui Herald Company, Mr Justice Kennedy will arrive in Dunedin to-morrow by the through express. from the south, and will proceed to Oamaru, where a sitting of the Supreme Court will be held. There is one'criminal case for trial. -Ho civil business has been set down .for hearing''at this session. Information has been received from the principal of the Coyne Electrical College in qbicago, U.S.A., that Mr D. R.Hehderson, pf Mornington, who left Dunedin a few months ago to enter that college, had passed his first and second examinations with very high honours.
