CHINESE CARNIVAL.
The Chinese Carnival which will commence in His Majesty’s Theatre and adjoining halls on May 1, promises to be one of the largest and brightest functions of its kind ever held in Dunedin. The Fuller Hall and the Victoria Hall will be' transformed into a Chinese garden, and a Mandarin's palace respectively, while the theatre scene dock below will be a Chinese street. The same Oriental atmosphere will be carried into the theatre itself, where a spectacular revue —“ Before Buddah ” —will be staged under the direction of Mr F. Reado Waucbop, The preparation of suitable decorations has been going on for tile past three months, and the Technical College Art students, supervised by Messrs Allan and Field, arc also doing excellent work in this direction. The erection of the stalls is in the hands of Mr A. Peters and members of the Hillside Ambulance Division, while the Electricity Department is responsible for the lighting scheme. The proceeds of the carnival are in aid of the funds of the St. John Ambulance Association.
