DAMAGE BY FROST
CALIFORNIAN FRUIT CROPS. YIELD REDUCED BY HALF. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, April 10. News from San Francisco states that the continued frosts over most of California are believed to have added further damage to the fruit crops to-day, but the agricultural authorities refused to place a definite estimate on the damage. Predictions indicated that some moderation might he expected in Southern and Central California to-night. The damage to fruits was estimated at as high as 50,000,000 dollars to-day by Mr E. E. Kaufmann, chief ol the I'ederal and State crops reporting service. He said he expected that the yield of fruit and nuts, which brought 100,000,000 dollars to producers last year, would be cut in half by the severe Weather. The frost damage to crops in the Yuba, Sutter, and Butte countries alone aggregates 10,000,000 dollars.—Australian Press Association.
