GENERAL NEWS.

The Quarterly meeting of the Mornington Methodist Circuit was held on Monday night; The Rev. James Richards presided over a fair attendance of officebearers. The church membership return* tor the quarter showed a sain of threw, and the balance sheet a debit of flJ}. Successful harvest thanksgiving and Sunday School anniversary services had been held. Arrangements were made for the visit of a Maori party. In. aid of home missions early in May, and for the Belle knowes Church anniversary later in that month. Mrs Harvey gave a very Interesting account of the recent Auckland Conference. Messrs Hi Cameron and A. Chirnsidc were elected to vacancies in the ranks of society stewards. Encour aging reports were given of the young people’s department of the church At a congregational social held In the School Hall on Wednesday evening, words of farewell were spoken ,to Mr A. E. Orr who will leave this week to take charge of the Cromwell Methodist Church. After a presentation had been made on behalf of the congregation on dnjoyable was contributed, by Miss G Orr and Miss R, Rawnsloy, Messrs A* E, Orr and H. ittddlc, and the Revs. A. N. Costain and James Richards. There was a large attcGlance at the fortnightly meeting of Court Little John. C.R. Bro. Davies was in the chair. One candidate was : . initiated, and two were proposed for membership. P.C.R. Bro. J. H. Reynolds was congratulated on his election as district warden, and P.C.R Bro. Gibson on being appointed to the Juvenile Council. P.C.R. Bro. Goodlel was presented with a P.C.R. certificate G.C.E. Bro. Goodlet, in responding thanked the officers and members for fin* assistance given him during his occupancy of the chair. He intended to continue to work for the advancement o‘ the court and Order.
