FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT STRATFORD. (Fee United Press Association.) STRATFORD, February Id. Fire early this morning destroyed premises in Broadway occupied by Mr Hawke, a hairdresser, and Mr Russell, a tailor. The brigade by good work prevented the fire from spreading to Messrs Bellringer Bros., ironmongers, next door, but their premises were damaged to some extent by fire, • and the stock was considerably damaged by smoke and water. Mr Hawke’s stock and fittings were insured for £IOOO and Mr Bellringer’s stock and the building were insured for about £4OOO.
THREE SHOPS DESTROYED. (Pee United Press Association.* HAMILTON, February 16. Fire this morning destroyed shops occupied by Mr Baldwin (draper), Mr Smith (boot dealer), Mr Malcolm (radio supplies), and a dwelling owned and occupied by Mr E. Harris, who also owned two of the shops. Mr Malcolm’s shop was owned by Mr Kassoff, who lived at the rear. Everything was destroyed except some of Messrs Harris’* and Kassoff’s furniture. Mr Harris’s buildings were insured in the South British office and Mr Krassoff’s in the New Zealand office. .
