MOTOR TRANSPORT.
STATEMENT BY MASTER CARRIER. THE FEDERATION’S VIEWS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 15. In regard to the statement reported to have been made at Auckland at the executive meeting of the North Island Motor Union by Mr A. J. Curtis, of Wellington, vice president of the Master Carriers’ Federation, that there would be no conference of motor interests in regard to motor transport and that the next step would be the appointment by the Cabinet of a commissioner, Mr F. Ross, secretary of the Master Carriers’ Federation, stated to-day: “ I cannot say whether or not the press report correctly represents the views ,Mr Curtis expressed, but I can say. definitely that so far as my federation is aware the Government has not in any manner whatsoever committed itself to any course of action in respect of transport beyond what has appeared in the official statement made by the Prime Minister. The views alleged to have been expressed by Mr Curtis largely represent a request made by the federation to the Government, but beyond a formal acknowledgment the Government has not replied to the request, or, as far as my federation is aware, expressed any opinion on it.”
