The Army played their first Rugby game of the season against the Harlequins at Portsmouth last Saturday, and won by a goal and three tries {l4 points) to a goal and a try (eight points) One of the outstanding players for the Army was Second-lieutenant J. R, Page, >f the New Zealand Forces. Page is a Sandhurst cadet, and is attached to the Ist Battalion the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry at Blaekdown, Aldershot Command.
The Times correspondent, writing of the game, says: —“At forward the Harh quins held their own excepting in getting and heeling the ball, and once the ball came out there was always a marked superiority on the Army side. The player chiefly responsible for that was J. R, Page, a newcomer to the Army team, whose presence marked a welcome innovation for he played as a representative of the New Zealand Forces. Though small and of slight build, Page is a player of remarkable skill and intelligence. It was generally the way in which he broke through the opposing defence that led to a try being scored.”
