A REMARKABLE OCCURRENCE,

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 14. A sequel to an extraordinary occurrence at St. Helier’s Bay on . New Year’s 'Eve took place in the Police Court today,; when eight residents of that popular seaside resort were charged with disorderiy conduct. It appeared that Constable Collins, as . the result of a collision between., two motor vehicles, was making the customary inquiries when his action was resented by the crowd which had gathered round him, and (it was alleged) • threatened to throw him into the sea.. It wgs stated that it was only by the forbearance and tact of the constable that something serious did not result.
