A CONTRACTOR DROWNED. (Per- United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 15. Walter Carroll, aged 26, a contractor, fell off a barge at Meremete, near Mercer about midnight and .was drowned.

A FRACTURED LEG. Angus L. MacSw.ain, seven years of age, residing with his parents at 80 D.undas street, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital .at 8.55 last night,suffering from a fractured right .leg. He was playing with some boys near. the_ bridge in • Dundas street, and when trying to .cross' the fence his foot caught in a picket.
