BRITISH CRUISERS
A NUMBER OBSOLETE. REPLACEMENT OVERDUE. (United Press .Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, February 14. “ The fleet is wearing out, and the. replacement of a number of cruisers is overdue. A further reduction would menace our security,” says Sir Cyril Cobb, chairman of the Navy League, in a letter urging the Admiralty to carry out the full 1928-30 programme in its entirety, He declares that the making of gestures by dropping vessels proved a mistaken policy because most of the other Powers, instead of reciprocating, have considerably increased their building allocations. He points out that since the armistice Britain has. scrapped naval vessels totalling 2,160,291 tons. —Australian Press Association,
