BAZAARS.

Y.W.C.A. JUMBLE SALE. A jumble sale was held in, the Y.W.C.A. Hall last evening for the purpose of raising funds to pay off debts incurred by sending delegates to the last annual conference. The sale piovc-d very successful, a largo crowj of buyers thronging tho hall throughout the evening, and most of the goods, of which there was a wide variety, were disposed of. The stallholders were kept working at their best speed until practicallyevery table was cleared, and at the close it was found that a most satisfactory sum haj been realised. OLYMPIC FUND EFFORT. In spite of the inclement weather the carnival which was opened last evening at the old Post Office site, was well patronised by the Itriday night crowds. The carnival, which was inaugurated by the Olympic Committee in aid of th"’ Olympic Fund consists of “ throw-ins,”’ in.e those of “ Chocolate Alley ” of other days, a “ knock-bis-teeth-out ” stall, and two sideshows in which animals are exhibited. One of these latter is a huge pig which is being sent bv Mr W. Ifastie to tho South African show, while the other is a prize bullock owned by Mr G. Barton. This animal, wiiich is also to be exhibited at the South African show, could not be brought to Dunedin yesterday, as it was too wild to be nntrucked here, and had to bo taken off the train at Burnside. 1 It will be on view to-day. The carnival will be continued this afternoon and evening PLUNKET SOCIETY SALE. A successful bazaar in aid of the Phmkct funds was held yesterday m Hums Hall, when a most satisfactory sum was realised. The stalls were well stocked with a variety of goods which apparently in-ide an appeal to the housewife, for in n very short, time after the commencement over £65 had boon realised. A large quar.titv of -.rods wa- not sold, but these wili be offered at another sale to bo held at a later dale.
