SEED AND PLANT RESEARCH.
WORK AT THE MASSEY COLLEGE CENTRE OF DOMINION SCHEME. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, April 20. 'The appointment, of Mr A. H. Cockayne (director of the fields division of the Department of Agriculture) to direct the seed and plant research station of the Massey Agricultural College is announced The work of seed and plant research in New Zealand is not to bo confined to the one centre, Palmerston North. Trial areas arc to be established throughout the Dominion in those locations where a particular problem is all-important. A special committee has been appointed to supervise the work in conjunction witli Mr jCocknyne. Tho members are. the Director-general of Agriculture (Dr C. J. Rcakes), the acting chairman of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (Mr Q. Donald), the chairman of the Massey Agricultunl College Council (Mr G. Fowlds), Mr W. Perry (Board of Agriculture), the principal of the Massey College (Professor Peren), Dr H. H. Allan (Research Council), and representatives of tho industries concerned.
