For the former purposes they ar. quite good because, having essentially a stout post at either end, they are solid and stout. Be it noted, however, that to make a ;neat job a wooden 'rail- of ordinary fenjring material should. be nsed in addition to the hnrdles. along the top to keep thorn from warping and twisting. It is impossible to see through these hurdles, hence as a-screen they are ideal, and possessing .as. thpy do, especially; after a little weathering,, a , truly rustic, look they never seem pu| of place. . .They can also bo made drcnlar'in ‘two pieces for the purpose, of protecting shrubs. - The .hurdles are sold in various sizes. A very .useful size for a fence ' Or; a wind screen is 6ft by. 3ft ; smaller sizes are very good to use in spring in order to prevent cold draughts playing on early crops; larger sizes make-excellent screens. By employing these hurdles in the garden it is an excellent way, at little expense, of protecting one’s stock of plants.
