TRIAL OF POLICE OFFICIALS.

TORTURING PRISONERS.

The Riga correspondent of The Time* reports that the supreme tribunal in the Ukraine has begun the trial of six of the highest police officials and A number of the rank and file in the town of ChuguieS, in the Donetz region, for alleged torturing of prisoners by slow strangulation and pulling out of hair, in which the police chief personally participated. It is also alleged that they terrorised Ghuguieff’s population of 13,000 instead of protecting them.—Times Cable.

EXPULSION OP TROTSKYITES. •

Th Riga correspondent of The Time* states that the Third International has opened a special session to discuss plans to create revolutionary organisations in Latin America to combat the Pan-Ameri-can Federation.

The Labour Communist Party admitted two important Trotskyites—both oT whom abjured further support of the opposition, namely, Krestinsky (an 'ex-Ambas-sador to Berlin and Canton) and Offovsenky (who was prominent in the revo« lution in 1917). M. TCHITCHERIN RESIGNS.
