AMALGAMATION OF COMPANIES,

It is reported that there is a possibility that the Pacific Cable Company may be taken over by a syndicate formed by’ the Eastern Telegraph Company and the . Marconi Wireless Company. Negotiations seeking amalgamation of the lastnamed company followed the recent London conference. If this amalgamation is accomplished they are likely also to absorb the Pacific Company.— Australian Press Association.
