A NOTED MARKSMAN.
LARGE COLLECTION OF TROPHIES.
TO SERVE ON H.M.S. DIOMEDE,
(Special to Dails Times.) AUCKLAND, April 11
A marksman with a record of notable achievements arrived by the lonic from Southampton to-day to join the cruiser Diomede. He is A. Pryce, a commissioned gunner, who in service and genera l rifle meetings in England has won scores of coveted trophies. Twice has he been in the “ King’s Hundred,” fi e times in the “ National Twenty,” and again twice in the “ Navy Eight ” rifle and revolver match. An amazingly large collection of cups and trophies and 62 medals attest his marksmanship in many forms of competition.
Pryce’s particular duties on the Diomede have not yet been defined, but he will probably give instruction iii musketry. As he will be attached to the New Zealand station for three years, he hopes to be able to compete at the Dominion rifle meetings. At one time be served on H.M.S. New Zealand.
