RAID ON A CLUB.
FORTY-FIVE MEN ARRESTED. LOCKED DOORS FORCED. (Peg, United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 10. Armed with a sjpeoial warrant, a numbei of detectives raided the Premier Club in Herbert street late last evening. Breaking through three locked doors, they found 45 men on the premises, while dice and cards were scattered about the place. Ihis morning, Thomas Dwvcr, aged 50, a steward, an! Francis Patrick Law, ageo 40, a taxi proprietor, wore charged with keep ing a common gaming house, and were remanded on ba’l of £IOO until April 17. A similar remand was granted in the case of Isaac Kutner, aged 40, a boxing manager, who pleaded not guilty to assisting in the conduct of a gaming house. Six men were fined £3 each, and 36, who pleaded not gu’lty, were remanded on £5 bail until April 17.
