ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SCHOOLBOY’S DEATH. Geoffrey Moncricff Gilchrist, a schoolboy aged seven years, residing with his parents at 27 Queen street, died at an. early hour yesterday morning, presumably as the result of injuries received when he was knocked clown by a motor car at the intersection of George and Union streets on March 12. At the time of the accident the boy was taken to the Hospital, whore he was placed on the dangerously ill list, His condition improved, and, on April 2, he was allowed to go home, where he again became ill and died. An inquest was opened at 11.80 a.m. yesterday, when evidence of identification was taken. The hearing was then adjourned sine die. MOTOR CAR SOMERSAULTS. THE DRIVER INJURED. A taxi-driver named Angus M'Diarmid of Balelutha, when coming back froa HiHcml on Sunday with two male passengers, met with an accident. When at Bishop’s the car overturned and somersaulted twice down a bank. The two passengers were unhurt, but M'Diarmid suffered a broken arm and n number of bruises and cuts, necessitating several stitches. He was convoyed to the Balcluthn Hospital, where he is now progressing as well as can be expected. KNOCKED DOWN BY EXPRESS. Suffering from fractures of tho loft leg and left forearm caused through being knocked down by an express at Cargill’s Corner, Mrs Elizabeth Ball, aged years, a widow, residing at 89 Macandrew road, was admitted to the Hospital at 1.40 p.m. yesterday.
