PRESENTATION AT MAUNGATUA.

A pleasant function took place at the Maungatua School on Wednesday afternoon last, when Messrs Frew, M’Cartney and Gieseler, as representatives of the Taion Amateur Athletic Club, attended at the school to present the trophies won by it at the Mosgiel meeting on March 24, when the Primary Schools’ Championship Cup and medal were won by 0. ~ Mr Frew (president of the Athletic Club) briefly addressed the gathering, stating the purpose of the visit and heartily congratulated both Mr Blair (the headmaster) and Master M'Cammon, the winner, and spoke highly of the latter’s performances. Mr M’Cartney presented the cup (which is held by the’school for 1?. months) and Mr Gieseler the medal (which is retained bv the winner), and Mr J. Miller (chairman of the school committee) then presented Miss Winnie Richards with the aggregate medal which she won at the South Taieri schools sports hold at Berwick on March 10 On behalf of the school Mr Blair suit ably thanked the visitors for their remarks and the interest they had shown in coming to make the presentations. The visitor were then entertained at his residence, and before leaving for home thankedl both Mr and Mrs Blair for their hospitality.
