CAPTAIN EVANS OF THE BROKE.

ONE OF THE KING’S NEW A.D.C.e. (From Our Own Correspondent.! LONDON, February 17. The following have been appointed naval aides-de-camp to the King in place of those promoted to Hag rank on the dates stated:— Captain A. M. Peck, D. 5.0., R.N., from January 14, in place of Contain F. A. Marten, C. 8., C.M.G.. C.V.0.. A.D.C.: Captain E. R. G. R. Evans, C.B D. 5.0., R.N., and Captain C. Campbell, V .C., D. 5.0.. R.N., from January 15, iu place ot Captain G. W. M‘Q. Campbell. C.M.G., A.D.C., and Captain A. G. Crauturd. A.D.C.; Captain 11. A. BucbananAVollaston. C.M.G.. R.N., and Captain N. A. Sullivan, C.V.0., R.N.. from January 16, iu place of Captain the Hon. K. A. R. Plunket Ernle-Erle-Dvax. CAB,, A.D.C., and Captain M. E. DunbarNasmith, V.C, C.S.. A.D.C. Two names in the list recall one of the heroic fights of the late war. Captain A. M. Peck and Captain E.R.G.R. Evans, serving in Swift and Broke respectively, engaged and defeated six German destroyers in 1017. Both were specially promoted and received the D.S.O. Captain Evans is also equally famous as an Antarctic explorer. He took command of the Captain Scott expedition after the death of the leader. Captain G. Campbell is another who won fame in the war. He was one of the eight mystery V.C’s. who gained the award in encounters with German U-boats.
