RUGBY REFEREES.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE. ELECTION OF OFFICE-BEARERS. (P»a United Peers Association.) NELSON, April 9. The annual conference of the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association is oeing held during the Easter holidays. Mr Dan M’Kenzie, in the course of his presidential address, said that there was no business of startling importance to be brought before the conference. The rules had been carefully considered, and as a result several recommendations would be made to the New Zealand Rugby Union. On Saturday the delegates were accorded a reception by the Mayor. The annual report stated: The executive feels that all eligible capable referees should be given an equal opportunity of controlling big fixtures. This can omy . e done by the Appointment Board of tie New Zealand Rugby Union. . The next conference will he held at 1 almerston North. , A motion to remove the headquarters from Wellington and make them iiovaD.e was lost by two votes. . The election of officers resulted: President Mr D. M’Kenzie; executive—Messrs T. A Fletcher, J. H. Francis, L. Sieyjra, G. Bradley, A. M. Sims, and H. J. M’.-ven-zie. The position of hon. secretary and treasurer was left to the executive ti 6*iMr Sievers who had occupied the position for the past 15 yeans, refused nomination, and he was accorded a hearty vt te of thanks for hia services to the association,
