COMMUNISTS RAIDED

JAPANESE POLICE BUSY. • MANY ARRESTS MADE. TOKIO, March 26. A series of police raids were launched throughout Japan on all known or suspected Communist haunts, resulting in over 100 arrests and the seizure of much evidence. All local publication of news_ of the raids was forbidden by the police, who are continuing to make arrests and seize papers. Documents alleged to be in the hands of the police show that election funds were received from Russia, together with Communistic handbills for distribution. Among those arrested was Professor Gaku Sano, formerly of the Waseda University, who, when suspected of being connected with a previous Communist plot, fled to Russia and recently returned.
